"Holly Springs Stories" in Ashland

Last month, I was invited by artist Joyceann Gardner to share my Holly Springs Video Stories with the Snow Lake Shores community in Ashland, MS.

This is the second public showing of my video series on Holly Springs, and the feedback has been absolutely wonderful! I’m definitely going to consider doing more public presentations like this as things develop.

Photos of my short preliminary talk by my assistant, Alexandra Ashmead, of the Holly Springs Depot, who was kind enough to take some shots for the blog.

Pics from the Tracks of Art Premiere

Thanks everyone for coming out to the Tracks of Art in May! The premiere of my documentaries at was an incredible event! It was the first time I've gotten to hear feedback about my work from an audience, and see their level of engagement in the stories. I'm very happy to report that the room was full throughout the day, and audiences stuck around to see all four video stories!

Fingers crossed, I think we've succeeded in raising the profile of Holly Springs, and the Holly Springs Depot! Here's a few photos of our theater room, plus the vinyl shirt Beckey Kemp created for the event.

The Holly Springs Depot

After being on the back-burner for a few months, I finally wrapped up my video about the Holly Springs Depot! I had so much fun putting this little project together, and I learned a lot from editing it (not to mention what I learned about the Depot!). I feel especially grateful to have been given the opportunity to shoot it as a personal project. Big thanks to Gwen Wyatt and Alexandra Ashmead for putting up with my visits!

Pictures from the Depot Tour

I don't always get pictures of me, well, taking pictures. When I do, it's usually a shot of me contorted in the floor (what I call "photographer's yoga") trying to get a shot. I can be shockingly compact sometimes, so I totally understand the comedy of it. BUT, I am really excited when I get a couple of photos of me simply standing.

Here's a couple of photos from my visits to the Holly Springs Depot. My first visit, I toured with artist Randy Hayes and shot some of my favorite still photos (a couple are on Flickr now). During the second visit, I caught some short video clips for a small personal project (coming soon!).

The pictures in this post were taken by Alexandra Ashmead of the Holly Springs Depot. More are featured on the Holly Springs Depot blog at:
